Arguably the most popular seasonal beer amongst craft consumers continues to be the almighty pumpkin brew.
We hear even witches, ghouls, warlocks, and ghosts thirst for the juices and accompanying spices of the gourd.
One of the most popular made in Virginia is Alewerks Brewing Company’s legendary Pumpkin Ale, already on the grocery store and retail shelves in 12-oz bottles packaged as six and 12-packs.
Alewerks’ Pumpkin has been describes as a “liquid pumpkin pie.”
Adding to the treat of the wickedly good seasonal brew, Alewerks will offer a trio of limited production variants.
“On September 27, we celebrated Pumpkinfest at the main brewery with the release of Pumpkin Latte, Pumpkin Porter, and the new Chocolate Pumpkin. All three are exclusive to our taprooms,” said Alewerks operations director Michael Claar.
“When we decided to throw Pumpkinfest we wanted to deliver something new to the slew of Pumpkin fans,” Claar continued. “Pumpkin Latte has been a hit for years and we felt like a chocolate version was a natural combination for the season.”
The brewery describes it 7.3% ABV Pumpkin Latte this way: “Our world-famous Pumpkin Ale brewed with the addition of locally-roasted coffee for a beer that would make your local barista jealous.”
The Pumpkin Porter has distinct flavors of dark chocolate, caramelized sugars, pumpkin spice, cinnamon sticks, toasted bread as well as subtle hints of vanilla, mild coffee, roastiness. The 8% ABV brew contains the Pumpkin Ale spice blend, roasted squash, brown sugar, and contains lactose.
In addition to Alewerks pumpkin beers, also try the following from across the Commonwealth: Spooky Barrel-aged Imperial Pumpkin Ale by Blue Mountain Barrel House; Pappy’s Pumpkin Pie by Hardywood Park Craft Brewery; Ossuary (Pumpkin Spic Eggnog) Cream Stout from Adroit Theory Brewing Company; Persnickety Witch Pumpkin Ale by Tradition Brewing Co.; Pumpkin Ale by Old Bust Head Brewing Co.; Jolly Roger Pumpkin Porter by Reaver Beach Brewing Co.; Witch of Pungo Pumpkin Ale from Back Bay Brewing Company; Outta Yer Gourd by Smartmouth Brewing Company; Pumpkin Ale from Dirt Farm Brewing; Bold Jack by The Bold Mariner Brewing Company; Pup’kin Patch Pumpkin Ale by Wasserhund Brewing Company; and Pumpkin Beer brewed by Ardent Craft Ales.
